Who You Calling Reverend?

Talk about a very long but good day. I've been fighting off this cold for four days now. Thanks be to God, though, that I was able to keep my voice long enough to make it through the service this morning. Picking a lot of low register songs probably helped that.

Anyway, that wasn't the important part of the day. You are reading the blog of the newest ordained pastor in the Southern Baptist Church. That's right, I am now Rev. Daron . Not that I will use that title very much, but still. I am so glad that God put me in a church that, even though we have had some differences, wants to do things to help me grow as a minister.

I don't think that this did anything different that what I've already been doing. Someone asked me, "Do you feel like a minister?" I told him, "I always did." This is my church validating what God has already made clear.

I Hate Colds!

Why do I always get a cold at the worst possible time? My finacee is in town this weekend and I can't even come close to her, becuase I don't want her to get it. :( I can't afford to get sick right now! Not to mention, I have my ordaining counsel tomorrow and want to be able to talk in my normal voice and not the contrabass that I've been all day long.

Went to see Saw II today. Freaky. Nuff said.

Yesterday, I was in the laundromat and this little (maybe 2) Mexican girl was with her obviously non-English speaking mother. Then a family came in with a little two-year-old boy. Although they were of different cultures, one thing brought them together...Neither of them knew how to talk yet. The little girl offered "un cheeto" to the boy who gratefully accepted. They babbled on with each other and played like they were best friends. The language and cultural barriers meant nothing to these two. Maybe we can learn something from them.

So, last night three of my boys came over and thought they would play a prank on my place. :) well, that didn't work. I'm sitting in my living room when there is a knock on the door. The local policeman had them at my front door. My neighbor across the street had caught them before I did and, not knowing who they were, called the cops. My first words to them...

"YOU GOT CAUGHT?" And then I rolled laughing at them for the next five minutes. Of course, I made them clean the whole place up.

Poor guys. They are going to get teased mercilessly from me tonight.
